The Inspector General’s office works to ensure that Secretary of State employees provide honest and efficient services to the people of Illinois.
The Inspector General’s office works diligently to preserve the integrity of the Secretary of State’s office by finding and preventing corruption and wrongdoing. Through investigations and audits, the Inspector General’s office also identifies inefficient or ineffective operations and procedures and recommends ways to improve customer service.
The Inspector General’s office welcomes questions, complaints, or comments about any Secretary of State employee, facility, contractor, operation, or procedure. In addition, the Inspector General fields complaints about any allegations of lobbyist or procurement wrongdoing. Complaints are confidential (and may be anonymous), subject to your consent or investigatory necessity, and retaliation against complaints is strictly prohibited. Complaints regarding sexual harassment, political activity, gift-bans, or the revolving-door will be forwarded promptly to the Executive Inspector General.
